RELAY [photo]
The Relay (and its sister vehicles, the Chevrolet Uplander and Buick Terraza) get some noteworthy updates for 2007. The Relay now offers three trim levels, including a new value-priced Relay 1 model sporting a base price a bit north of $20,000.
Like most other 2007 GM vehicles, the Relay gets a new 5-year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty with roadside assistance and courtesy transportation.

Leading the list of new hardware features is the new standard engine for all trim levels, a 3.9L V-6 with variable valve timing (VVT) that generates roughly 240hp and 240 ft/lbs of torque, making it more powerful than the Relays domestic rivals and competitive with the latest engines from Japanese and Korean minivans. A FlexFuel variant of the engine designed to run on E85 ethanol will also be available in late 2007.
Stabilitrak electronic stability control (ESC) is now standard on all trim levels, while a new 17-inch optional wheel design is now available as well. The Relay 3 trim level gets premium floor mats in all rows and dual-zone manual climate control for the driver and front seat passenger.
Four new exterior colors are available, including cocoa, cosmic quartz, gold mist and polar blue metallic. These new colors replace four existing colors, with coastal grey, golden cashmere, forest green and bronze pewter being sent to the old car color retirement home.
Beyond 2007
The Saturn Relay (much like the Buick Terraza and Pontiac Montana) will likely be discontinued for the 2008 or 2009 model year. The Chevrolet Uplander (and a still unnamed GMC minivan) will be significantly updated and reintroduced in 2009/2010.
