Kia – New for 2007

2007 Kia Sedona

Like the Hyundai Entourage (which is essentially the same vehicle), the '07 Kia Sedona gets a modest increase in horsepower and torque in the standard 3.8 liter V6.

The 2007 Sedona continues with two trim levels (EX and LX) but gains a new short wheelbase (SWB) variant. A number of other minor changes and improvements may be in the offing for the ’07 Sedona, but couldn’t be confirmed at press time. These updates will likely include a redesign of the center stack and a modest boost to both the horsepower (from 242 to 250hp) and torque (from 251 to 253lb-ft.) of the standard 3.8 liter V6 engine.

RONDO [photo]

Based on the Kia Optima midsize sedan, the new Rondo is much smaller than the Kia Sedona. It falls into the same class as the new Mazda5 "mini-minivan", which could make it an attractive option for people who need to maximize interior volume but don't need (or want) a traditional full-size minivan.

Details are still a bit sketchy at press time, but the Rondo should be available for sale in Canada by the end of 2006 and in the US sometime in early 2007.

Beyond 2007

With the Kia Sedona and Hyundai Entourage based on the same platform and sharing most of their components, look for Kia to put additional effort into positioning the Sedona as the entry-level, high-value model of the two vehicles moving into 2008 and 2009.
