FREESTAR

The Freestar enters its last year with four trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited, and a cargo variant. A third-row tailgate bench seat – which can be flipped over for tailgating – is now standard across all trim levels.

Six new colors choices are also available, including: alloy clearcoat metallic, dune pearl clearcoat metallic, light tundra clearcoat, pewter clearcoat metallic, silver frost clearcoat metallic and windveil blue clearcoat

A 3.9 liter V6 remains as the standard motor on the SE, while the SEL and Limited get a stout 4.2 liter V-6 that provides 263 ft-lbs. of torque, giving it the largest displacement and highest torque output of any minivan available in the North American market.

Beyond 2007

Ford has already discontinued the Mercury Monterey, while 2007 will be the last year for the Freestar. Ford plans to replace both minivans with new vehicles based on the Ford Fairlane concept, likely to launch sometime in 2008 as 2009 models.
