2007 UPLANDER

The Uplander (and its sister vehicles, the Saturn Relay and Buick Terraza) get some noteworthy updates for 2007. The Uplander will continue to be offered in both standard and extended-length body styles and will be available in four trim levels: 1LS, 1LT, 2LT and 3LT.

Like most other 2007 GM vehicles, the Uplander gets a new 5-year, 100,000 mile powertrain warranty with roadside assistance and courtesy transportation.

Leading the list of new hardware features is the new standard engine for all trim levels, a 3.9 liter V-6 (photo) with variable valve timing (VVT) that generates roughly 240hp and 240 ft/lbs of torque, making it more powerful than the Uplander’s domestic rivals and competitive with the latest engines from Japanese and Korean minivans. A FlexFuel variant of the engine designed to run on E85 ethanol will also be available in late 2007.

According to GM, the 3LT trim level includes a new “PhatNoise” entertainment system that uses a 40gb hard disk to store music, video games, movies and other content. The entertainment system will be preloaded with children’s TV programs, audiobooks and music.

The Uplander also gets four new exterior colors, including brown metallic, light amethyst metallic, polar blue metallic and gold mist metallic. The 17-inch aluminum wheels get a new design, and a new five-spoke chrome-clad aluminum wheels will be available.

BEYOND 2007:

The Uplander (and a yet-unnamed GMC minivan) will be significantly updated and reintroduced in the 2009/2010 model year.
