What's New: 2008 Honda Odyssey
One of the most impressive features of the 2007 Toyota Sienna is the powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine that was introduced for the 2007 model year. Combining power with excellent fuel economy, it's a remarkable powerplant that makes the 2007 Sienna more enjoyable to drive than earlier models.
The 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country can also be fitted with a 4.0 liter V6 and a six-speed transmission, giving Chrysler's latest the distinction of having the largest engine displacement and only 6-speed transmission currently available on a minivan.
Now Honda is the next minivan maker to revamp their powerplant offerings, with the 2008 Honda Odyssey (2007 Odyssey pictured) now sporting the second generation of Honda's variable cylinder management (VCM) technology. Previous iterations of the feature shut off three cylinders when the vehicle encountered light engine-load conditions, then switched back to six when needed. The new version can run on three, four or six cylinders, which manages to squeeze out an extra MPG or two.
The 2008 Odyssey also gets a few other upgrades and improvements, which you read about in our 2008 Honda Odyssey preview.
