Toyota Chief: A Hybrid is in Your Future
Toyota President Jim Press was recently quoted as saying that hybrid-powered vehicles would dominate US roads in the near future, with adoption of hybrid technology driven by increasing fuel costs.
While Press didn't mention any specific vehicles or product plans by name, his statement does seem to indicate that we may be seeing a hybrid Sienna minivan (or equivalent) sooner rather than later. The current US-market Toyota Sienna--launched in the fall of 2003 as a 2004 model--is likely a few short years away from a refresh. One would logically think that the next Sienna would offer a hybrid powerplant, but only time will tell.
What do you think? Is Toyota dragging its feet on making a hybrid minivan, or do you think we'll see one in the next few years? Sound off by clicking on the comments link below this post.
