NY Auto Show: Sirius Teams with Chrysler for Backseat TV

Thursday March 29, 2007
Sirius Backseat TVMany people have been saying that minivans are rapidly moving towards becoming "family rooms on wheels", a prognostication that has just taken yet another step towards reality.

At the 2007 New York Auto Show, the Chrysler Group and Sirius Satellite Radio announced that they'll be offering a new satellite backseat TV service as an option in the new 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan and 2008 Chrysler Town & Country minivans. Backseat TV will be offered exclusively in 2008 Chrysler vehicles (premiering in the aforementioned minivans), but will likely be offered as aftermarket options on other vehicles soon afterwards.

According to a Chrysler press release, the system will offer "three channels of live, family TV programming from Nickelodeon, Disney Channel and Cartoon Network delivered directly to the vehicle."
