Automotive News:
Domestic Minivans See Extensive Fleet Sales
Tuesday January 2, 2007
According to a story by Rick Kranz over at Automotive News (subscription req.), it appears that domestic automakers are seeing a significant chunk of their minivan sales go to rental fleets and other large customers. This translates into fewer minivans actually sold to consumers like you and me, and helps underscore how well Honda and Toyota are doing in the segment.
The Chrysler Group also sells a big chunk of minivans to fleets, but isn't ready to throw in the towel on the minivan segment yet. We've seen early photos and specs of the new 2008 Dodge and Chrysler minivans, and they'll undoubtedly help Chrysler in its fight for dominance of the minivan segment.
