Ford Ends Mercury Monterey Minivan Production
Monday September 4, 2006
According to an article over at the Detroit Free Press sourced from a Bloomberg news item, Ford announced last week that is has ceased production of the Mercury Monterey minivan.
The article goes on to explain that the Monterey's sales have fallen significantly over the last year or so. Production of the Ford Freestar -- the sister vehicle to the Monterey -- will likely continue into 2007.
Ford won't be leaving the people-mover vehicle space for long, however, as it reportedly has already begun work on a new vehicle based on the stylish Ford Fairlaine concept.
